It’s that time of the year again! Summer is over and the leaves begin to fall as autumn and winter change the landscape from greens to rich hues of gold and red. There’s so much going on around Carlisle during the holiday season that it can be overwhelming just trying to figure out what to do. Take the work out of planning everything for your getaway and read on for your exclusive guide to fall and winter area events!

Halloweekend in Downtown Carlisle
Starting the season off is Halloweekend, October 18th – 20th! Held in downtown Carlisle every year, it’s a weekend of spooky fun with pumpkins, art displays, decorated windows, and special events! Check out the pumpkin path with hundreds of carved pumpkins on display as kids go trick-or-treating all around the festival at our special Saturday event. It’s fun for all ages and is a great way to start the season off right.

Fall Furnace Fest
Happening the same weekend is the equally fun Fall Furnace Fest! Held at Pine Grove Furnace State Park from October 19th – 20th, it’s host to a number of unique activities like historical demonstrations, pumpkin carving, and plenty of great live music. Entrance to the park and festival is free, and with unique events like charcoal making and blacksmithing on display, it’s a special experience not to be missed!

So You Think You Can Dance Live!
So You Think You Can Dance Live! 2019 is coming to the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center on October 25th and is ready to put on a show-stopping performance! Bringing together the top contestants from season 16 of So You Think You Can Dance, this live performance will feature dances and choreography from the Emmy Award-winning television show, as well as special live exclusives. If you’re a fan of the show or of dance in general, then you’ll certainly want to check it out!

Conversing with Spirits: Mansion Seances at Allenberry
Things are getting spooky! Check out the haunted history of Carlisle with mediums Dan and Kat Eckert and contact spirits around Allenberry on Halloween night, October 31st! After walking the grounds and contacting the spirits there, head deeper into the Allenberry mansion for an authentic recreation of a 1920s seance! It’s an evening filled with spooks and fun and is a great way to learn more about the history of the area.

Carlisle Ice Art Fest
One of the most unique events of the season, the 2020 Carlisle Ice Art Fest is a celebration of all things ice! Happening February 7th – 9th, over 70 different ice sculptures are placed throughout downtown for your viewing pleasure so make sure and take plenty of pictures! In addition, you can watch live ice-carvings and glass-blowing, enjoy a performance from the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, or take a festive carriage ride through town. It’s a relatively new event, only celebrating its 4th year, but it has quickly established itself as one of the top things to do in the area during the winter season.
